KARACHI: Captain Sarfarz Ahmed said on Sunday that the Pakistan cricket team performed excellently at the World Cup in the last leg of matches after fumbles at the start.
Addressing a press conference, he announced to continue playing for the country as long as he was fit and the Pakistan Cricket Board will decide whether they change him as captain
Ahmed said that after several blunders and fumbles at five matches at the beginning, the team recovered itself and exhibited the best performance in the last leg of the matches. The captain said that all players played well. Answering a question, he said that he was satisfied with his performance and he put his best to deliver as a captain.
Ahmed said that coach Miki Arthur and chief selector Inzimam-ul-Haq lent their full support and gave chance to every player to showcase his talent.
Answering a question, he said that they tried their best to improve the run rate but, at several instances, the pitch was unfavourable and the intermittent rain also took a toll on the run rate and ranking.
He refuted that he had any differences with coach Miki Arthur and added that they were on the same page. Ahmed said that the team gave a farewell to spinner Shoaib Malik and cooperated with him till he announced his retirement.
He denied that he ever claimed that Pakistan team will make 500 runs against Bangladesh and only he learnt about it from the spectators when the team entered the ground to play against the Tigers.
